How to Write Numbers in Words
Writing numbers in words is needed for checks, legal documents, formal writing, and education.
- Numbers under 10 are usually written as words in formal text
- Compound numbers (21-99) use a hyphen: twenty-one
- Use "and" after hundreds: one hundred and five
- On checks, write the amount in words followed by "and 00/100"
